About Joining our Shul

The First Narayever Congregation is open and welcoming to the Jewish community all year round. Our traditional, egalitarian Shabbat services, ongoing educational programs for children and adults, and important social justice work provide rewarding opportunities for discussion and participation. Rabbi Ed Elkin and the entire shul offer support, guidance, and encouragement as we all grapple with the spirituality of everyday life and especially during significant life cycle events.

Although our doors are open to the entire Jewish community at all times, we encourage you to forge a closer bond with the First Narayever Congregation by joining us as a member. There is more to membership than celebrating Jewish life cycle events and being entitled to a cemetery plot. A true sense of community and identity develop not only through attendance at services, but also through participation in the many activities and programs relevant to a Jewish spiritual life offered by the shul.

If you are interested in joining our shul, please do not hesitate to contact Rabbi Ed Elkin, President Joel Edelson or Membership Chair Liz Bohnen regarding membership or any other questions you might have about the shul. We invite you to join us for services any Shabbat morning from 9:00 a.m. in our beautiful, friendly synagogue at 187 Brunswick Avenue. The kiddush after services is a wonderful opportunity to meet the Rabbi, Board members, and members of the congregation to find out more about the benefits of membership.
