Selihot speaker event with Dr. Stephen Scharper

We are happy to welcome Dr. Stephen Scharper for a conversation on themes of forgiveness and our relationship with a planet in ecological flux.

Dr. Scharper is an engaging speaker and a professor at the University of Toronto with the Department of Anthropology and School of Environment. His research and teaching focuses on environmental ethics, worldviews and ecology, liberation theology, as well as nature and the city. His most recent book For Earth’s Sake: Toward a Compassionate Ecology, explores how we can develop an effective relationship with the natural world in light of contemporary ecological challenges.

The program with Stephen will be followed by refreshments and Selihot services led by Rabbi Elkin and Rabbi Julia Appel, which will conclude around midnight.
