Mission Statement
First Narayever Congregation – a cornerstone of Jewish Toronto for over 100 years – is a warm, welcoming community dedicated to serving Jews from the downtown core and beyond by:
- Creating a relaxed, spirited, participatory heymish atmosphere
- Combining traditional liturgy with an egalitarian ethos
- Developing and sustaining a love of Torah and Jewish learning
- Cultivating an atmosphere of progressive thinking and pluralism
- Dedicating ourselves to Tikkun Olam and social responsibility
- Encouraging a thoughtful and committed connection to the State of Israel
- Nurturing our multi-generational community and caring for one another
- Enriching the lives of our members by providing dynamic programming for children of all ages and adult education opportunities that enhance spiritual growth and Jewish identity
