Social Action Committee Event - Brandi Morin

Indigenous Storytelling Series: Brandi Morin

Thursday November 26, 7:30 pm.

The Social Action Committee is thrilled to bring journalist and musician Brandi Morin to the Narayever Community.

Brandi will share her personal story of growing up in foster homes, running away, being a missing Indigenous woman, and reconnecting with her culture as an adult, as well as the importance of journalism as told through the lens of an Indigenous woman and Indigenous reporters.

Brandi Morin is a Cree/Iroquois/French journalist from Treaty 6, near Alberta, Edmonton. She won a Human Rights Reporting award from the Canadian Association of Journalists for her work with the CBC's Beyond 94 project tracking the progress of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action.  She works freelance and writes for different outlets, has a podcast, and is writing a memoir.
