YOM KIPPUR APPEAL

At Kol Nidre, we appeal to those in attendance to support a range of worthy organizations doing important work both in the GTA and in Israel.  Last year, funds from our Yom Kippur appeal were disbursed to 13 charities, including Out of the Cold and Jewish Family and Child based in Toronto, and Kishorit, an organization in Israel which supports adults with intellectual disabilities. The full list of last year's grantees may be found here

This year, we will be focusing our Yom Kippur fundraising on organizations that support youth wellness and mental health.  The Social Action Committee felt this was an important area for us to address, especially in the wake of the pandemic.

The appeal was delivered by Dr. Marshall Korenblum on Tuesday evening, October 4 as part of the Kol Nidre service. The text of his speech is available by clicking here. Please support this appeal as generously as you can, so we can continue to do our part as a community to help heal our world.

DONATE NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS

Most of us have the luxury of fasting by choice on Yom Kippur. But not everyone knows what it’s like to have food in the cupboard and fridge every day. Please help out by contributing non-perishable food items on Erev Yom Kippur for our annual food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank. Food bank staff will be on hand at the MNjcc prior to Kol Nidre services to accept your donations. We have not been able to run our annual food drive since before the pandemic, but the need has only grown during that time. So please give generously.
