There is good news about our building renovation project. It’s happening! The dream of an accessible, safe, environmentally improved, more spacious shul is being realized.  As you read this, construction has begun. The protective construction fencing is up, the heating, electricity and water have been shut off. We have all the permits (there are many). Valuable items like our pews and light fixtures have been removed for safe keeping and refurbishment. Interior paneling in the basement has been removed. All of this work is in preparation for the digging and rebuilding of walls, floors and ceilings to prepare for the second floor and the installation of the elevator. Not a lot to see on the outside yet, but a great deal is going on in the inside. This preparation work is critical for what will come next.

The building is now in the hands of our architect LGA and construction management company, Boszko & Verity. The work crew is there daily. In the near future, they will be setting up a construction office on the property to the south of us. They are making the most of this good weather to get work done.

This renovation project could not happen without the outstanding support of the Narayever community. So many have made financial contributions that the targets have changed 4 times! We started with a fundraising goal of $2.5 million, moved forward to $3 million, and having achieved that, Capital Campaign chair Mark Guttman moved us to $3.5 million. And now he and the Capital Campaign team have us heading toward a new (and final) goal of $4 million.  Narayever members have been as generous as they felt they could manage. And thanks to the incentive catalyzed by two matching funds (one for young families and one for general donations), we have raised over 93% of our final target. It is amazing to have such support.
